INTRODUCTION TO TRANSLATION
This course is designed to be an introduction to the theory and practice of translation. The students will learn the fundamentals of what translation is, understand the communication process in the translation situation, and acquire some principles of text analysis that will help them to read thoroughly and understand how texts are written in both English and Spanish.
TASKS
1. To describe what translation is and the
competences that are required for a professional translator.
2. To understand and produce real language to translate.
3. To develop textual skills in both English and Spanish trhough translation.
4. To recognize the importance of developing a textual competence to translate.
5. To talk about the importance of linguistic and cultural aspects that are involved in the translation process.
